Melissa Harrison
DIRECTOR | CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Hi, I’m Melissa - clinical psychologist, question-asker, pattern-noticer, cheese aficionado, and someone who continues to buy plants despite very little evidence that I should. No judgement please, haha. I genuinely enjoy getting to know the person behind what brings them to therapy.

My style is genuine, thoughtful and down to earth. I value honesty, curiosity, empathy and humour, and I don’t believe therapy needs to feel overly formal or clinical to be meaningful.

I’m naturally curious about the why behind things. My role is to notice patterns, make connections, ask thoughtful questions and help you look at things from angles you may not have considered before. At times, that may mean offering validation and support; at others, it may mean gently challenging a belief, pattern or way of responding that no longer feels helpful.

I also place a strong emphasis on collaboration. I don’t see therapy as me having all the answers; it is a process we work through together.

& yes, my work is evidence-based - a phrase you will probably see on almost every psychology website. For me, that means the approaches I use are informed by genuine research, clinical data and established psychological theory, so there is a clear rationale behind the work we are doing. At the same time, research is only useful when it is applied thoughtfully to the individual person in front of me.

My experience spans community organisations, schools, universities, non-government services and private practice, working with people across a wide range of backgrounds and stages of life.

I particularly enjoy working with adults who may be navigating perfectionism, people-pleasing, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, childhood trauma, major life transitions, uncertainty around work or study, neurodivergence, anxiety or depression.

You might come to therapy wanting to understand yourself better, work through something that has happened, gain clarity around a decision, change a pattern that keeps repeating, feel more confident in how you respond to difficult situations, or simply have somewhere you can speak openly and think things through.

I’m here to support you in feeling more connected and intentional in the way you live. Together, we can work towards meaningful change.

If you’ve made it this far, maybe this is your sign to book that first session.
